Beijing Fire and Rescue Service launched a special safety campaign featuring off-hour patrols and unannounced spot checks throughout the National Day holiday period.
Inspectors targeted shopping malls, restaurants, scenic sites, hotels and entertainment venues, focusing on fire hazards such as blocked evacuation routes, aging electrical wiring and non-compliant fire-fighting equipment.
By the end of the campaign, more than 5,000 potential fire risks had been rectified on-site or within a specified time limit. Fire officials reminded businesses and residents to stay alert to fire dangers in dry autumn weather and keep qualified fire extinguishers ready for emergency use. The fire team maintained 24-hour standby to guarantee public safety during the holiday celebrations.
The Haidian Fire Department has conducted inspections in areas with high concentrations of people and high fire risks, such as hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, and entertainment venues. Photos provided by Beijing Fire Department.
