The fire was not brought under control until the early morning of February 17."Crews were trying to put out the fire, but strong winds blew the spark over the fire barrier and landed 400 meters off the mesa cliffs," fire department chief adi sanheim-sanot said Sunday.The fire then spread rapidly around messutcliffe, covering a large area.

Adithorne said more than 130 workers, national park officials and volunteer fire crews, along with three tractors and four sprinklers, worked through the afternoon and into the night.They set up fire barriers to prevent the fire from spreading.

Reports say the fire was under control early Sunday morning.It is estimated that more than 2,000 lai (1 lai is equivalent to 1,600 square metres) have been destroyed, mainly pine forests and grasslands.
