China's super-rich are returning to Europe's top luxury real estate market after a two-year slump.
A mysterious Chinese woman has paid 80 million euros (563 million yuan) for a luxury mansion in Sardinia, Italy, according to L'Unione Sarda, a local media outlet, which published photos of the mansion and the transaction cheque on June 18.
According to the check information, the mysterious wealthy woman, Nani Wang, did not use installment payments or use offshore companies in the Cayman Islands to avoid paying taxes. On April 8, she deposited €80m directly into the Swiss bank account of an American landlord.
The four-hectare property has three private beaches, 49 guest rooms, a film studio, a helipad and a private swimming pool.
Italian media, however, are not clear on the identity of the mysterious woman, only described her background as "Chinese e-commerce tycoon", 33, born in China's Jiangsu province.
